Volunteering has become an essential part of my creative practice. Learning from the talents and life experiences of others while getting to do the things I love is a pretty sweet deal.

Girls Who Code - Mentor and speaker
GWC works to close the gender gap in technology by providing free clubs, workshops, and summer immersion programs for 6-12th grade girls. I spend each summer working with a mentee as she moves through the computer science program, providing career guidance, support, and community. I have also taught a workshop showing the group how to use Adobe tools like Spark Page and Photoshop to display their final projects.

Open Books is a nonprofit venture that provides literacy experiences through their programs and creative capitalization of books. One of these programs is the Publishing Academy, a summer intensive during which teens write and publish their own novel. Each summer I work with a novelist or two to create a book cover that fits their literary vision.

I'm always interested in projects and events benefitting youth, women, POC, LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled folks, and San Jose communities. Just drop me a line.
